Feeding Times For Dragons

Hey all,

Was just wondering what time of the day you all find that your dragons (beardies and water(ies) tend to eat more. Mine have their crickets in the morning and then (I think) graze on their vege's sometime during the day. I'm trying to work out the best time of day to offer the vege's in order to keep it as fresh as possible.

Yeah normally let the enclosure heat up a bit for about an hour or so then whack some woodies in the fridge for about 10 minutes so they appear dead then put them in beardies enclosure and he just picks them off once they start to move off. Same when I get home from work.

Jacquie, mine have their set routine (and I think are about the same age as yours, around 3 months?) Their lights come on around 7, I give them an hour or so to wake up etc. I then feed them at 8 (woodies or crix) I take them out to feed though, I dont just throw the food in there. After they have eaten I usually put some beardie pellets in (which dont seem to get touched, but I keep trying) and they stay in there all day. I get home from work about 5.10, and they get another feed of woodies then, then about 7-8 I take the pellets out and put some veggies in for the night (they seem to like their veggies before bed...) then their lights go out around 9.

Cheers

LOL Dragoness, that's pretty much the same as what I do....lights on at 7 and off at 9. Same feeding methods and mine is around 10-11 weeks. Seems to be doing fine. A little stubborn with the veggies though - have been giving it a mix of grape, strawberry, watermelon, green beans, dandelion greens, mustard greens, shredded carrot. If it cant find something nice out that lot I give up.......*jokes*.

My beardies just love the hybiscus flowers, the bright orange seem to be their favorite - I must admit though they're yearlings already - - and it took a long time of offering and removing uneaten veges, salads and fruits before they'd eat it...

Now I buy the 'homebrand' frozen vege mix (it's got peas, beans, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and all cut to a good size) Just defrost in warm water, strain and serve... and if you're after another 'alternative food' I mix a few spoons of tin dog food into the frozen vege (it helps stop the peas from flying all over the floor too).

The beardies get that one day and fresh greens, fruits and flowers the next and they just love it -I also feed crix and woodies about once/twice a week.

Depends when you have the light on for them and heat. We have our on 10 am till 12 midnight. So first feed about midday and then at about 9pm with vegies in there daily.
