Was just wondering what freezer burn looked like on a pinky rat.i got 10 the other day and some of them have patches of black, could this be freezer burn or just their fur coming up.

hiya,

hmm Im not sure that it would show as a black mark....I have an assortment of pinkies and fuzzies and some of them are sort of blackish...I think its just there natural pigmentation and perhaps the beginning of hair growth...on the other hand I have seen freezer burn on pinkies in a pet shop I went into oneday ...and on observing them I noticed what appears to be dry patches ...an inconsistency on the colouring of the fuzzy....its much like what you would get on meat ....a lighter than normal appearance that looks almost sort of dry....hope some of this makes sense to you...

Freezer burn is dry and white . The black should be the rats pigment coming through .
