from carpet to sand

Hi
i havnt posted in a while but now i have a question haha

my beardies have been on carpet since i bought them last september
and im thinking of changing it to sand

i'm kinda worried about impaction but i heard after 5 months of age, sand will be fine and they're well past that now.

i mainly want to add sand so they have somewhere to dig ect.

so should i add sand?

cheers
camo...

I have kept my beardies on sand and bark for a long time now and havent had an issue.

I use a worm bowl and insect feeder for crickets so they aent really chasing around eating of the sand so much

i have never had an issue with impaction, actually i was talking to someone from this site just the other day about it and what they said makes sense.
You dont get impaction by just eating a little bit of sand, it is something that needs to build over time and needs a consistent high intake. (well thats what i took from it anyway) which sort of makes sense, its like if we eat sand. We arent goign to get impaction from having a mouthfull, it will pass through but if we continued to eat more then something would go wrong i would think

yeah that makes sense

i mean if they got it from just a few bits of sand then we'd find dead wild ones everywhere!

if they were walking around grazing on sand then their would be a problem haha
