Gecko Help - Hatchy Marms

Not a very clear picture as these guys wont sit still.

One of my baby marms has a very small white dot on both its eyes. For about 3 days now.

I was wondering if anyone can help me as to what it is?

Its still eating fine and moving around fine, just instead of a black eye it has a small white dot on both eyes.

Could it be blind, or is it shed, ???

It looks big in the picture but its not really very big.

I have two babies and the other is fine.

These are my first baby marms and Im not sure if its just going to shed or retained shed maybe?

Any thoughts would be great thanks.

Mrs I

Never seen anything like it. How strange.
Got a blue tongue today with a 'slack' pupil. I think I'll call it 'Bowie'.

I have not seen any shed skin in the enclosure as yet, it does seem to be sticking out from the 'normal' part of the eye, sort of like a sty in a human, but it is central on the eye and on both eyes.

I would say it is about the size of a single 100 and 1000's if that makes sense.

It looks like corneal ulceration (abrasions on the eye surface). It may or may not be associated with shedding issues. How old is it?? Has it always been like this or was it born normal???
You need to be very careful mediacting gecko eyes as they can lick meds off and create an issue of medication overdose. My preference for gecko eyes is Silvazine cream (human burns cream), twice daily until resolved.
It is highly likely however that with the extent of these lesions that long term scarring is possible.

It does look like ulceration. I have seen it with cattle many times. But how would your babies get ulcererated eyes?? Infection maybe? Would it have possibly dried out a bit in the egg? Certainly is an interesting problem. Gorgeous looking baby Taryn.

Thanks Dan, i have only had it for 3 weeks.

I will have to ask the person i got it off exactly how old it is.

It has always had lighter looking eyes compared to the other baby, well not lighter but more milky looking if that makes sense, but it has only been in the last couple of days that it has become really obvious, thats why i thought it might have been going blind.

Whatever it is, it seems to be smaller in the day time (while its sleeping) and get larger at night time during their awake cycle. I am thinking that because of this it must have something to do with the cornea.

What sort of things cause ulcerations on their eyes?

Thanks

Dryness, infection or injury, [injury you could rule out, I think]. If it gets bigger when the pupil enlarges it would indicate that it is the pupil which is affected. I would try an anti-inflammatory cream from the vet. Entropian is a common cause but gecko don't have eyelashes. I wonder if it could be similar to that though. Good luck. I hope all goes well.

I would be thinking it might be a birth defect / problem, being both eyes and with such a young gecko, I would be speaking to the breeder about that one, they don't look good.
