Hi everyone,
I'm building an incubator, and i'm a little unsure about the heat cord wattage to use. The inside dimenions of the incubator are 60cm high, 35cm wide, and its 30cm deep. I'm using a wine fridge.
I'm thinking that a 6 metre 50 watt heat cord would be enough to heat it - what do you think?
The other options are the 4m 25w heat cord - I thought maybe this would take too long to heat it up, and also if I open the door to add water etc then it may take too long to bring the temp back up?
The other option is overkill I think - the 80w 9 meter heat cord... So I guess my choices are the 4m or the 6m?
let me know what you think please!
regards,
Lockie

25W would probably work just as well - but it's a very small incubator, at that size it will cycle a bit too freqently for my liking. It would have to be very well insulated to maintain an even temp at that size, and you don't have much room to add any heat sinks such as water containers or bricks which will be far more efficient than air at storing and releasing heat to maintain an even temp.

Thanks for your help - I appreciate it... i'll have to give lots of thought to how I can hold the heat in....
Just as a matter of interest, what does everyone use to hold the heat in their incubators?? Containers of water, and bricks are a good idea - any others?
regards,
Lockie.
