They tend to get very hot (about 50c or more) if you don't hook a thermostat up to it.

The particular model you have is a low wattage heat pad, so should not require a thermostat, although it wouldn't hurt. Should sit at around 30 degrees (roughly). I have several of these heat pads and have never used thermostats with them. The higher wattage ones easily get to 50 degrees and must be used in conjunction with a thermostat.

Then it'll only get as hot as you set the thermostat to let it get  That rhymes
Whoops sorry

good to see u got a thermo.... i have 2, 13Watt heatmats, they get into the high 40C's sometimes!!! so i highly recommend a thermostat.
Yea just place the heatmat on the floor of the enclosure... or if its a stickon one, stick it......
then place ur click/clack half over it, then place the thermostat probe on the otherside of the heatmat that isnt coverd, and set ur therostat to 32C. Your done, safe and sound |

Do you have a thermometer? If so, after the heat pad has been running for a while, find out what the temp is in the cage (directly above the heat pad - where the snakes will be lying) to ensure it is reaching the temp you have your thermostat set to.
