Exclamation Help!! Beardie ate small rock

my bearded dragon jst ate a rock!! the rock wasn't very big (around 1cm long and .75cm thick).. will he be ok?? i saw the rock and it was a really nice white colour so i brought it in and put it on my table next to the bed. so i got the dragon out and wuickly gave him a couple of worms and he ignored them and ran straight to the rock and gulp it was down withought me being able to do anything.. i would guess its usual for them to eat rocks in the wild but will he be ok??

I really don't know about lizards, but birds such as chickens eat rocks and are fine, my dog also will eat a rock occasionally. keep a lookout for it in his poop and if it doesn't come out in a couple of days, maybe take him to a vet. if he stops pooping altogther there may be a blockage caused by the rock in which case get him to a vet asap. hope this helps

Yes as you said in the wild things like this will happen. Whats the age and size of the beardy? I would suggest you closely monitor him to make sure he is pooing.

Depending on the size of the rock, he should be okay. When i used to keep Bearded Dragons they used to pick rocks out of the dirt and eat them.

I love beardies so much but I don't think the majority of them are the smartest lizards going round...

if you want to be on the safe sid just treat it like a suspected impaction, warm baths a couple of times a day with a bit of a belly rub. i've also heard of people giving them a bit of mineral or mutton bid oil to help lubricate the insides can't hurt to do it just in case

Important.....dont give any live food for the next week...load up veggies every day....
every one is different, different animals will react differently to foods, if my Merlin (b/d) has spinach it goes right through him etc...i would give heaps of hydration greens...corral red/green lettuce & endive ...let him have as much as he will consume....then next day spinache .
Keep altinating till it comes out..........& ditto on warm baths.
If in any pain ( if he constricts/paralises with conpactment) get to vet immediately).

If anyone dissagrees please let me know.......ive done this & it helped one of my girls.
