Is it a thermostat that is mounted to the inside wall or a probe thermostat? Set the dial to its limit. Then place a thermometer at your desired area within the enclosure. When the thermometer rises to the temp you're after, wind the thermostat back until it clicks off. Keep the dial at this position from now on and it should click on and off at the temp you want.
Did that make sense?

Some are operated via gas filled bellows. Others have a probe sensor.
All will turn on/off or dim etc at the desired temperature which is dialled in by the owner.

Make sure you use a calibrated thermometer to set the temp don't use the dial on the thermostat as they are usually wrong. When the cage reaches the temp you want on the thermometer move the dial on the thermostat so it turns off.

If you mean how to wire one up, it can be done the same as the imit brand. I did one this way and it works fine except the power indicator thingy wont work( i think its cause i bypassed the blue wire straight to the light source) which is no big issue.
