Just keep the temps at 30 during the day and leave the heat off during the night. Offer food and he doesn't take it he is in burmation not hibernation.(not sure on my spelling there) Leave the heat like that for all of April then slowly start to lengthen the heating hours.

No probs. This may not be everyones method but it seems to work for me. This is my first year of breeding Diamonds in about 3 years though. I have lost all my original books during moving to be able to refer to them.

Diamonds remain somewhat active during winter and will bask as often as they can (weather permitting!)

It would be wise to give the animal day temps of 24-26'c, which will be from around 7am through to about 3:30-4pm. Not heating will be needed overnight. If it was an older animal i'd recommend turning the heating off earlier than 3:30-4pm, but since its only 2 years old then i think its best to play safe. The snake will handle the low drop in temps overnight as long as day temps reach back up to 24-26'c

I would start cooling in late May and start warming back up in mid September and offer no food throughout the cooling period.

I would also advise that the snake be able to warm its belly at this time, as scale rot can kick in on the ventral scales if the animal spends a great deal of time with its belly on a cool surface during winter cooling.

weight is also a factor

weight is also a factor, if your diamond has a lot of fat reserves, then she could go the whole cooling of period with out feeding. i just watch my diamond and can tell if she is hungry....if mines is coiled up over the cooler periods i just leave her until she is active, i'd only feed him/her if they are "looking" for food, they (well mine anyway) tends to let you know by there activity. hope this helps and good luck
