hello guys,
just a question, when do snakes go into hibernation and how do i help it along.... or do they do it by themselves. and is it bad if you dont let them hibernate?? i am not really sure about any of this so any info at all would be good

if my snakes choose to hibernate i let them, but generally they dont as they are not quite ready for breeding, but once they are ready for breeding i will encourage hibernation.
it is not bad to not hibernate them.

Australian pythons don't hibernate.

as mrbredli has said most aussie pythons do-not hibernate, they get a bit less active over the cooler months but donot hibernate. Infact most pythons from most parts of oz,(the top half anyway), will feed year round in the wild.

They don't hibernate, they go into brumation. They become less active and tend to go off their food for about 2-3 months. Some snakes will do this whether or not you mimic winter temps in their enclosure.
