Rack System

Heres my setup......

sorry about the dogdiness of the diagram. quick and nasty.

hopefully its pretty self explanatory.
probe thermostat place in one tub which then controls the heat tape for each level. or you can just use the one.....

the tape is slid through a slit cut into the centre framing to allow less wiring.

any questions. please ask.

oh..... i didnt put specs on as i use it for hatchy's so your spec'd be different. but i put approximately one third of the tubs onto the heat mat.

the frame is open on both side to allow tubs on both side, with the heat tape running through the center
you can buy heat tape from herpshop

i take it no probs with interperating the diagram then.
it didnt cost too much to knock up.
the most expensive thing was the heat tape at $35 a metre........

I would suggest going with heat cord rather than heat tape. Cheaper, more economical and far easier to deal with. All you need to do is route a groove into a sheet of melamine for it to sit in.

Also, instead of having solid walls and backing like many others, try an "open" design that allows greater airflow. I built mine with solid walls and pegboard back, but then Denver put his own twist on it and built this -

On page is some of his other set ups. His are probably the best rack systems I have seen. Simple, cheap, effective - what else do you need?

Hers my four tub rack , used heat cord routed into the floor across the back , two runs .
very simple set up , works very well , cleaning is so easy too .
next one i do i will use two pieces of melamine on the sides ( so there is a gap in the middle ) for better air flow and ventilation .
