Housing more than one snake

hey guys, just wondering on how snakes socially in pairs?

I'm considering getting a mate for my mac when it's older, and was wondering if they can be housed in the same enclosure and, if so, what size enclosure (was thinking 1200 x 600 x 600)?

Cheers,

Gaara.

I wouldn't be putting them together IMHO. They have been known to be cannibalistic at times especially if one is bigger than the other. As well as the threat of IBD and OPMV floating out there.

If you do decide to pair:

1. Quarrantine the new snake at first with a minimum of 6 months, preferably 12 months though. Have a strict quarrantine and handling process, employing some sort of basic contamination precautions. Be aware of mites, parasites, diseases and changes to the general health of your snakes.

2. Ensure they are both roughly the same size.

3. Get a larger enclosure than what you described with multiple hides both in the warm end and in the cool end as well as a number of branches to climb on for both ends.

4. Feed separately.

Good Luck

Its the way you went about it that bothers me; the "ugh another person asking the same question". I should have specified that I wanted subjective discussion from people with experience, not a document some take as gospel is all.

married but not sleeping in the same bed, thats gotta suck

I suppose keeping them separate until breeding time would be more 'natural' :S

A snake with morals lol

I was thinking of putting Brian and Bohemian Tighsqueeze (my male and female childrens) together when they're older, but seperate enclosures wouldn't be much of a hassle. Not like the enclosures will be huge or anything
