How often?????

Just wondering how long after a feed is it recommended to wait till the next feed.
I've heard that some people feed once a week, sometimes sooner or should i wait for my snake to poop then feed a few days later?
How do you know when it's time to go up from pinkie rats?
Just wanting others opinion.

I love these 'how long is a piece of string' type questions.
Opinions on this, like every other subject, vary considerably. A lot depends on the species you are talking about. Personally I feed most hatchlings and up to about a year of age every 5 days. Feed them a meal which make s noticeable bulge without really stretching the skin.
You don't need to wait until a snake defeacates as the frequency varies with different snakes and even individuals.
You can move up to pink rats when the thickest part of the snake is a little thinner than the thickest part of the rat.
These are my own opinions and what has always worked for me. Some will say feed less often and some even feed more often.

That is of course a good point, we breed more than we can use so that isn't a factor for us but I can see how it could be especially with petshop prices.

Thanks guys, that answers my question, well sort of. Since i've only fed her once since getting her i'll wait and see if she poops by sunday if not i'll offer her a feed. Don't want to overfeed her.

Depends on the age of the snake I think.

I have a hatchie that I feed once every 7 days (on a wednesday). When she gets older and stops her majority of growing, I will feed her less regularly.

I have a much older childrens python that gets fed once a fortnight
