The ones that lay eggs, they are the females. If they hatch, the other one is a male. They are impossible to sex, females get a little more girth around there middle, but only after laying a few clutches. You can't even tell by them fighting as males will fight with other males and females and visa vesa.

But when you do get a pair that won't kill each other, they are baby machines. This female has produced around thirty eggs this season.

Thanks for the info Jason, at what age/size do they mature?
What do you keep yours in?
is a heat cord good enough to heat them or do they need a basking spot?

Yeah, they are mine. They are great to keep, They act more like a small monitor than a skink, not good for handling though as they twist, crap and bite all at once (and they bite like a monitor too, very sharp teeth for such a small mouth) Female lays 5 - 7 eggs every thirty days, first clutch was in August, thirty day incubation so it's one in one out. Extremely rapid growth, can hit adult in six months if fed well. Simple to keep, heating the bottom of the tank with a mat or cord is fine as they have no trouble "swimming" down under the sand to sit on it. They are quite intelligent for a skink and very fast when they want to be ei. dont drop one on the floor.

They are ridiculously easy to "pop" with a little practise but not a good idea if you don'y know what you are doing.

I would have thought you could pop them, but if their tale drops off it's probably not a good idea
