Just make the water luke warm. You will be right, just warm enough so the snake can move around.

It is very important that the skin comes off the tail completly. Use a damp cloth with some warm water and gently rub it back, DO NOT force the skin off. Since it is just the tip of the tail I wouldn't bother soaking it in a container with water. Just keep wetting the skin on the tail and slowly rub it back. Remember DO NOT force the skin off.

A shed like that can be (not always) a result of a little under hydration. Make sure you have some water available and change it often (daily). I only recently found out that reptile actually release fluid between the scales to be shed and the new layer and then reabsorb it. If under hydrated they cannot do this effectively. If there is someone who knows differently, I'm happy to learn...
