Incubator thermostat question

I have been setting up a small bar fridge for a incubator as I expect some MD eggs any day now. Got a good DL2 pulse proportional thermostat and some heat cord with 2 computer fans to move the air around. Everything seems to work OK except the temp seems to vary from 28.5 at night to 31 during the day. Is this acceptable ?? I moved the thermostat control box to inside the fridge because I thought the external temp variataion may affect the boxs performance but this hasn't made much difference. Put a lot of full water bottles inside fridge so the temp can't vary quickly. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I would appreciate any info. Dave

That's a pretty big variance, although it probably wouldn't kill the eggs. I'd still try and get it down a touch. What are the room temps over a 24hr period? I run the DL1 and only get about 0.5C day/night variation, but our room temps are fairly constant. What heat source are you using? And is it running flat out over night trying to make it warmer?

Thanks for your reply Magpie. The room temps are 20C to 28C roughly. The heat cord is 25 watts. Not sure if it is running flat out as the control box is inside the fridge. you have made me think about it some more and maybe the 25w is not enough. I will put another 15w cord in there tonight and see what happens. Dave

Ive got a DL1 with 6m of heat cord in mine. the temps vary alot in my apartment but the temp barely changes 0.5 degrees.

The other thing you need to take into account is that the temp inside the click clack will not vary as much as the air inside the fridge. The thermostat probe and thermometer/hydrometre probes should be inside the click clack.

My click clacks are covered with glad wrap to allow O2/CO2 exchange but not let the moisture out and i have put a couple of strips of tape across the top of the and then cut a small hole and put my probes through that and then tape over that to seal it.

Hope this helps
