Do most people make incubators, or buy them?
Any links on making them if so?

I bought an incubator years ago from America. Its a hovabator incubator and it does the job well, only cost me $100au. Thats with freight, built in thermostat and veiwing windows. Good buy i thought.

I make incubators out of polystyrene boxes form tropical fish shops or if you can get one (because they are like rocking horse pooh) an upright glass door display fridge from a shop, both are easy to make and worked well for me.
Let me know if you want more info.

Not too sure, but i think the store bought incubators can get a bit pricey (though they might have just been the ones i saw)

My incubator cost $13,500 AUD
Thermoline humidity controlled incubator (large fridge type)
I didn't buy it just for reptiles, it's main use is hatching queen bees!
I've had 100% hatching success with every fertile reptile egg placed in it. Regulates temperarure to 0.1 deg c and humidity to 0.5 % accuracy.
I'd reccommend them if you have a lot of expensive reptile eggs to incubate, especially for GTP's. Absolutely no substrate required!

If you want a cheap and brilliant incubator made for you (best option first time round) then contact NCHERPS or HUGSTA and they will make one for you. They made mine and it is working a treat. Temps keep between 0.05 degrees and your humidity is set by how much water you mix with your vermiculite.
Cant reccomend them highly enough.
