Internal Parasites

I have a very sick Beardie at the moment that I have had to leave with the Vet because he is losing weight and regurgitating his crickets.

He has been unwell for about a week but I have been doing the best to treat him, last night was his first regurge and I am worried about internal parasites.

What does everyone here use to regularly worm the reptiles? There are a lot of products out there but which work?

I will keep you posted on Falcore's progress (and my own)!

Panacur is another one, but you really need to ask the vets advice as to which wormer would be the most suitable for your animal/s.
I wish you a good outcome, hope he's better soon.

Internal Parasites

Just an update on my Falcore !

I just called the Vet and she has explained that his outlook is guarded at the moment so he will be kept in overnight to be monitored. He has been force fed with a special diet to get him to poo so they can investigate further but so far he is refusing to go to the bathroom (he is very shy). She said that these guys can cause themselves further injury if they don't eat or drink enough that can cause kidney damage so I am hoping he is strong enough to pull through, she will not be able to tell if it is a bug until he goes to the loo.

I have to call back tomorrow and get another update.

Falcore Update!

It has been 5 days and Falcore still refuses to eat on his own, the Vet is force feeding him a special diet and he is being given antibiotics and sugar water to keep up his strength.

He is depressed and apparently listless. She says it is best that I leave him with them until he is off of the critical list but be prepared for the worst

He is a brave old soul and I am sure he will be fine, he just needs some rest from me cuddling him all of the time!

Be sure to check your babies, if any look like they have lost some weight don't think about it take them to the Vets and get some tests done, it is awful to watch them struggling.

Internal Parasites

Thanks guys, I just feel hopeless and I know he is a Beardie but he is my special little guy!

He was given to me by someone who couldn't give a rats when he was little and never fed him any crickets or calcium so he has some deformed bones. Since I have had him just over a year I have fattened him up and made him more active, doing leg stretches and walking, in which he loves.
He is such a beautiful trusting old soul.

Sorry, I am very much the softy.
