hello i was looking at my bhp today and look what i found
and i use these light cages
now after a little investigation i found that the bottom rails of the guard were up to 94deg using 100w bulb
and 65deg using 75 watt bulb.
just a warning about these guards and maybe others
i have some i made myself just from mesh and they are not getting hot at all
diluted betaden
and what else should i do
Other than change the guards

straight betadine, i wouldn't dilute it as there is no need for the location of that injury. The snake will go into slough cycle as part of the healing process.
Keep applying the betadine every day.

also if you like use some aloe vera burn treatment. get more distance on the light gaurds to prevent the gaurd heating up. i now make all my own light cages as you have done. try using zip ties to keep everything together and make sure there are no sharp edges. i also attach a separate piece of mesh to the bottom like a hinge from one side. attach it to the other and that way you can just cut the zip tie to change a globe rather than take the whole light cage off.
hope that helps. the black headed should clear up fine. let us know how you go.

Keep applying the betadine every day. | A friend had an issue with a snake and sticky tape and when he went to the vet she said it would be much better for the snake to dilute it as betadine hurts and it has been made with human skin in mind not a reptile which would be more sensitive to the ointment..... Just thought I should mention this...... By the way, it took him three day's b4 he got the snake to the vet and all those day's he didn't dilute the ointment when applying it and the snake has turned out fine .......
The slough cycle, I didn't know it would happen and that is very informative....... It has been about three week's since this incident happened so I was wondering if u could tell me how long b4 he could go onto a shed........ He's had two feeds and seems to be behaving normally.. Even had some time out in the sun........... Thanks in advance......
G/B ..........

Radiant heat panels are the solution, no burns ever, no cages required. Expensive but worth it!

These are Radiant Panel heaters that can heat up larger areas for reptiles, birds or animals. The front surface of these heaters are moderately hot so they should be fixed on ceilings or walls where animals or birds etc. will not come into contact with the front surface
