as i was holding my python earlier this evening he was rubbing his head against my hand, then when i put him back he started rubbing his head on the rock. His eyes are not milky so he's not shedding, what could this be???

He may still be shedding, their eyes tend to clear up before shedding. Also just be sure he has no mites.

Eyes usually are cloudy 3 - 5 days before shed with my snakes. Eyes clear up, but body remains dull. If it's a hatchling, you may not have picked up on the cloudy eyes. I hope it's shedding tonight.

they are small.look for white spots which is their droppings. check around the eyes and the crevice on their chin for the mites them selves

Do you have a magnifying glass you can check him out with. I've never had a snake with mites so don't know how easy or hard they are to see. Depends how good your eyesight is too I suppose!

If you are feeding him well, they can shed quite frequently.
