There is no need to stress, it's common for hatch / juvies to stop eating over winter. It is important to leave the snake alone over burmation to keep it "switched off".

It will keep raising her heart rate thus starting her metabalism and causing her to loose weight faster. Put two hides in the C.C. one on the mat one off and only open the lid to fill the water bowl. Try to keep the C.C. in a shaded spot. It's a waiting game.

This is a photo of a hatchling that refused to eat for 3 months. It was feeding when I bought her and I have no reason to believe otherwise. She was probably about 8-9 months old when the photo was taken. Her whole body felt like a big blister. She is going great now (about a year later). She had a vitamin injection at the vets and things seemed to turn good pretty soon after that. I would pesonally be trying everything possible to get the little fella eating because when they are young they can go downhill real quick. JMO
Hmmmmm. If you want to see the photo give us a pm and I'll email it.

Just to be clear I don't think anyone suggested feeding her a skink, merely to scent a mouse or rat with a skink.

Have you tried dipping a mouse in water of boiled gold fish.Itried this on a dp yearling once with results, she had gone off here food for three months from the middle of november.I had placed an older male dp into the enclosure for a couple of weeks, that was fine but then icleaned the cage out and thats when she refused all offers until i tried the above method:-of course the water should be just warm not hot -disclaimer.Also the male was moved out a month into the farst.

I dotn think i could kill one to be honest.

| raising a python in the NT is a little different to raising one in Sydney. A cooled reptile in burmation will loose little condition if in good health. If the python is out and about every day it is not in burmation but if it wants to hide and stay hid, leave it alone, spring is just around the corner.

mate i wouldn't be worried to much if the snake still has good condition, one of my hatchling coastals didn't eat for the good part of 7-8 months no matter what i tried, but she eventually came good when she felt hungary enough

Some of these replies are the stupidest things I have ever heard !
Tryptich, dont worry, some snakes have a bio clock that turns them off in winter, some dont.... its just a natural process.

how about you just go to a fish market and buy "white bait" then defrost a little fish and scent the rodent with that! Worked great for me, and was cheaper than buying a goldfish and heaps easier than boiling it.
