Jungle eating question!

Hi Guys,

Just wanting to know if anyone else has had their snakes eating a rat from the wrong end? I fed my jungle Nala last night and she got frustrated with it and for some reason couldn't tell where the head was soooo.... she ate it from the other end! I watched her the whole time and she didn't seem worried about eating it this way! She got it all down and is no under her heat lamp sleeping it off!
Can anyone tell me about their experience and if there are any side effects????
I'm just a little worried and would like to be put at ease!

Cheers,
Mell

Sometimes my Bredli cant work out which ways up and makes the same mistake, it usually takes a little longer to swallow but once its down their r no ill affects.

LOL. That's cute, you worrying about it's welfare, what a Mum...
My male jungle Homer, feeds like this frequently, looks a mouthful trying to get it down legs bending the wrong way, but he manages, with no ill effects...
We would probably freak if we saw what goes on in the wild.

Thanks guys for your reassuring!! It's just the first time one of ours has actually eaten it backwards!! She was being stubborn recently and not eating at all, although 3 weeks isn't much to stress over as it's coming into winter... anyway I left it a week since the last time I tried and she was showing no signs of being hungry but I thought I'd give it a go anyway and she was hungry!!! She shot out of her box like a freight train and hit it so hard but she kept over commiting her body to the rat and covering it with coils from head to tail!! She ended up so frustrated with it she (literally) threw it out of her hide and stretched it out using her body and proceeded to eat it from the back end!! I watched her the whole time to make sure she didn't get stuck and there seemed to be no problems it just took her a bit longer!
Anyway I've checked on her today and she's happy and full and I'm sure she'll probably leave me a lovely present in the next day or so!
Thanks again for everyone's support!

Cheers,
Mell

now days when he cant find the head i grab his and show him where it is, and he starts eating,...

my snakeys seem to eat it backwards if the mouse/rat has been frozed in a weird way, like curled up or something, sometimes it keeps that shape when its thawed

The thing is I always present the rat to them with the head first but somehow it gets lost in translation!!! It is very funny sometimes because you think "my god... how many rats have you eaten and you still don't know the head from it's backside"!!!!!
Our diamond has issues to sometimes which is even funnier as he's 6yrs old!!!
But when she started flinging it out of her hide cause she was frustrated was the funniest bit!!!
