Lighting for Young'ns

What is the best type \ brand of lighting for young snakes.

I currently have a Murray Darling with a heat pad, but the house is very dark and she has not eaten for over 2 months (since purchase).

I have been told not to worry as she will probably eat in summer and been given all types of advice on how to get her to eat.

I just realised that part of the problem may be how dark the apartment is so I have placed her cage near a window. This is not optimal and I am considering getting a larger enclosure and a proper timed lighting set-up.

Originally I was told not to worry about lighting for the firs year and that a heat mat would be sufficient but I am sure my very dark apartment has a lot to do with her not eating.

What brand or type of lighting setup is best for young pythons.

Cheers,

Edan

A UV flouro simulates daylight the best. The Sylvania repti stars are fine for $20 or you could look at one of the white black lights like the herp shop sells. A standard cool white flouro will do the job, just a UV is a bit better.

How about the broad spectrum light bulbs or mercury vapour lamps? Or is the Bulb / fluro combo the best?
