Hey guys!! :-)
Just a quick question?
If I breed my own mice for food and worm them once a month or how often is reccomended, then how long do they need to be frozen for before I can feed them to my snakes??

Don't worry about worming the mice, just freeze them for at least 6 weeks before feeding off and worm your snakes every 6-12 months as a precaution.

can you feed them the mice if thay have been frozen a shot period of time say 1week?
and by freezeing them that long kill all the nastys ???

I am getting some from a friend on here, but i think they are normal ones that he has had for a few years?

Laboratory rodents are the non-wild rodents most of us feed our snakes on - white mice & rats, and all the colours that are bred these days. if you keep them in clean conditions, or they are kept in clean conditions, there is very little likelyhood they will be carrying anything harmful to your snake, worms included.

Matty B, 6 weeks is the recommended amount of freezing time before they get the all clear.
I feed alot of my snakes freshly killed mice, freezing before feeding isn't that important as long as you have a good source of mice - a pet shop is not a good source and anyone who purchases live mice from a pet store should definately freeze them before feeding IMO.

I freeze most of my rodents before feeding them to some of my snakes. Some snakes get freshly killed or live. I get my snakes wormed twice a year and get them vet checked whilst i am at it.

i freeze for a min 6 weeks and i breed my own mice / rats and worm them every 2 months the rats and mice that is
only as a precortion
