Can you put somthing between the enclosure and the heat mat, like some blocks of timber or tiles, to adjust the temps while you wait for a replacement thermostat? |

hes not going to die cos of the temperature if its to hot he will move away i don't like heat mates i prefer heat lights they seem to work better IMO and the snake can bask in it

but David vella said i should not have heating on atm so thats my least concern.... if worst comes to worst i will grab the thermostat off my geckos enclousure and put it on his
he came out and had a drink so im happy about that

Thats one reason why i dont use the mongrel things. Sledge-hammer prey, thats all they are good for imo.
Unless used in an incubator of course. |

Virtually every heating problem ive ever heard of is because of those god dam mongrel things, they've caused the death of many many reptiles over the years thru malfuntion or not being set up properly, i just dont trust the things to keep animals with and never will. |

This once again will eliminate the need for a thermostat. ( sorry sledge-hammer prey haha). |

BHP's like pretty hot basking temps, and as the air temp probably wasn't too high his body temp was probably nowhere near 47 degrees. I'd be more worried about burns then something like heat stress. Did you check his belly to make sure there were no burns?
