More beardie questions

I apologise now for the numerous questions in this thread.

First off, should I be changing my beardies lighting/heating patterns now that daylights saving is ending (like giving them less heat time etc)? If so, how long should their UV and heat lamps be on throughout winter?

Should I expect them to slow their eating through winter, even though they are under lights?

Im in the process of having another 4ft enclosure made as I had to seperate them (at least I thought I did, though now the little one still isnt eating so Im thinking maybe it just doesnt like to eat!) anyway, I currently have the bigger one in a 4ft x 1ft x 1.5ft (approx), the tank Im getting is 4ft x 500cm x 500cm (approx) I was thinking of moving the bigger beardie into the bigger tank and the smaller beardie back into the smaller 4ft tank, now my question is, (and this may sound strange, but I know alot of animals have residue fear) will the smaller beardie associate that tank with where it was beaten up, or is this too higher a level of intelligence?

Should I also have the tanks in different rooms or is it possible to have them in the same room and not have the larger one stress the smaller one?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

ok about the lighting/heatting during winter...

Some people do like to follow nature by going with winter however, It hasn't been shown that this "helps" the beardies in anyway as winter brumination is an adaption not a necesity. If you choose to go with winter yes there will be alot of changes you will notice.

As far as the "little one" that is not eatting...
you must must have them in seperate tanks not even seeing each other. It will be ok to use the old tank for the little one just make sure you sterilise EVERYTHING and you can change the furniture around. As far as it not eatting can you tell me more about it (ie. age, how long youve had it, how much it is out of tank, the temps, its basking habbits, what you offer it including salad, furniture, etc)

Thanks for that. They are from the same clutch of eggs, and hatched the first week in dec, so would be about 4 months old now. He stopped eating alot when his sibling started getting a little bigger (which was why I moved the smaller one, thinking his sibling might be picking on him, even though he always had the best basking spot and seemed to be the boss) He is currently in a 2ft tank while the other enclosure is being built. Normal tank temp is about 30ish during the day, down to about 25 during the night with his basking spot about 35. As for the type of UV, it is a long globe that is one of the special reptile ones (which I cant remember the name of) and he is quite close to it (within about 10cm) He also gets sunlight daily. I know its not ideal to have him in such a small tank without temp variances, but I wasnt going to buy a full set up for the 2 weeks while the other one was being made.
uummm, he gets offered veggies a few times a week, has a choice of woodies or crickets at feeding time (8am and 5pm) his furniture is newspaper and branches and he is handled a few times a day for feeding (is taken out for feeding), but seems to love attention, whenever I walk into the room, he starts running up and down and as soon as I remove the lid he clambers up onto my hand. Will happily eat mashed up beardie pellets as long as he is sitting on my hand to do it.
Hopefully new enclosure should be finished this week (auzlizardkind if you're reading this, hows it going) so he will be moving back to a suitable home very shortly.

Cheers

4 months is too young fro brumation,...they shouldnt brumate if they dont have decent fat stores, so keep the lights and temps as they have been thruout summer.
mine are 2 and still havent done it.

are the non eating ones poos ultrally smelly?
sloppy or firm?
urates nice and white?

Chris, thanks for the info on the lighting etc.

I havent noticed the poos being ultra smelly, they are pretty much the same as the bigger ones, maybe a little runnier, but I figured that was due to the water I mix in with the pellets when I mash them.
Urates are nice and white.

How often do you take him out? the name of the uv should be on the side ? Id say he may be a little stressed just give him a couple of days rest ( i know its hard ) are all the sides see through? if so try to cover with a towel or cardboard . Is the tank in a high traffic area? can he still see the other beardie? if he eats pallets thats atleast something but offer salad everyday atleast some endive. What type of salad do you offer?
