What are Murray Darling and Darwin Pythons like for a beginner? Do they have a good temperement or special needs?

Hey QueenLozz!
Speaking from personal experience, the Murray Darling's are definitely the best... Just by their nature alone, they're the beardies of the python world!
Darwins "can" be a tad snappy, and, for a beginner, this could put some people off!
My advice, go with the MDP! You won't regret it!
Hope this helps!
Best,
Carolyn

how much do they generally cost and what size do they grow? I understand they're larger than a childrens but smaller than a coastal?

Just a little further on the MDP... I've dealt with juveniles (which "should" be snappy, because you're trying to get them to feed, just like any other snake) and I've dealt with sub-adults, and I've dealt with adults...
One of mine is my "masseur", and LOVES people/cuddles, wraps his head around my wrist once and gives a gentle "squeeze" when he wants back in - no THOUGHT about biting (he was the sub-adult).
My other one, female, who doesn't get handled anywhere near as much, is still as placid and docile as they come. (she was the adult!)
All in all, it's "in the genes"!!! Just the breed!
Hope this helps (again!)
Best,
Carolyn

"Generally" for a juvie, $150 - $180, yearling to sub-adult, $200 - $250, adult $350 - $400... Obviously, this would depend on the breeder/pet shop/supplier!
Hope this helps!

Carolyn

Oops, forgot size!
"Generally", between 6 - 8 feet adult length. My male is 7 and a half feet, my female is 7 and a quarter!
Best,
Carolyn

Go the MD. I personally don't have one [ I reckon the Bredlis are best] but a friend has one. Charli is a great advert for them cos she is the most placid snake I have ever come across. I don't think she even knows HOW to bite. In SA you can buy MDs for around the $250 mark
PS. Welcome to APS
