hey i am gettin my first python tomorrow its a hatchy coastal and i have a piece of dowl in the enclosure for him to climb on and its about an inch above the floor level and was wondering if that would be to high for him to climb up onto it??

how big is the enclosure

should be ok. but as he gets bigger you may want to include some more things to climb on, they do like to sit quite high.

depends on how big he grows. but, they do like to climb. so i would put something else in there for him to climb on if it was me.
