Used to have a red one but the light is too strong at night - makes your house look like a "massage" parlour...the purple lights are much more subtle around the house and still give a good view of the animals...

I know exactly what you mean. I was using red globes for heat for geckos before I was setup properly and the red glow was visible from the bedroom, very irritating. And as you said, I'm sure the neighbours must have thought we were running a house of ill repute.

no need for a heat mat anymore..
she loves it to, no more spending all night in her hide, she is out and about, sits on a branch under the light at night, goes for a wander around, then back to her faverout branch...
