i've only seen him do this several times in the month and a half i've had him
he sits on his bask spot raises his head to look at the heat globe and opens his mouth, doesn't stay like that for long though. i've heard of similar symptoms in other reptile when they have an RI. he's still active and eating really well but i'm just a bit curious what it's about.

So instead of going to a cooler part, and losing heat, he just opens his mouth so his brain doesn't fry... |

Gender:  | | | | It's common for beardies to have a RI when coming out of brumation, they will gape when they are cold though and usually have a cough. A hot beardie will gape to cool down and this is perfectly normal.

becswillbe- mine does the same thing its like oh looking too cute can't let her see me do this
i reackon it's probably cooling down since he only does it directly under the bask spot.

is this also normal, i have the uv and basking light on during the day, and everything off at night as its in the lounge room, and the fireplace keeps the room warm.
