Can anyone post some links or pics of outdoor python enclosures , Mainly want to see how you sort out the "rubbing nose" probs with bird wire...

Thanks

IMO nose rubbing is probably due to poor cage decoration or too much stress cause the snake to constantly want to escape. When i was younger i used to keep coastal carpets in my avairy without any trouble. IMO you just need to avoid sharp bit of wire sticking that could easily slice up a python.

I keep my MD's in a cage with this aparently evil mesh on the front door without any trouble too.

It might also depend on the type of wire i have only ever used the square stuff about 12mm, but even so that sort of damage isnt going to happen over night. I also never kept anything in the avairy for more than 6 months or so, but plenty of ppl keep snakes in them without trouble.

Im sure there are plenty of other members here with heaps more experience keeping pythons in avairies that could also offer advice.

Don't run the wire all the way to the ground but have a solid "kick board" right around the perimeter. Put the trees etc for climbing in the centre so they cant reach the wire by climbing.

and i guess using a heavier gauge mesh like the stuff that comes in sheets would help it would not dig into them very easily like the thin aviary wire would

Yup have all that sused , just want to see a few pics of what people use , wire size/type if its more of a "window" of wire or more open( normal bird avery) , the pythons I want to keep outside are found in the area so I have heating and all that already sorted .Might be a prob with reaching the wire as the snakes are 2-3 meters in lengh , and I was looking at only having the enclosures 3x2x2meters

Use a mesh over the wire on the inside. Fly screen mesh works great!

Ive used mouse mesh and bird mesh, if you paint the mesh black with killrust paint with a roller it gives the mesh a non abrasive coating and it's a lot easier to see threw to admire your animals
