Talc powder accross all doorways, (flour is fine)
i would say put a heat mat out, but in this weather it wouldn't help
he prob didn't go too far, look around the imediate area, but lift funature and boxes, don't drag them out, just incase he's under it.
good luck.

LOOK IN YOUR LIGHT FITTING.. If the doors were closed, that's the most likely area it'll be. Use rats in boxes, with small openings so it can get in but not out after its meal.]

Close doors make access between areas impossible so you can narrow the scope of the search area.

u will be able to see where he goes, or has been, as he will make trails in it when he moves around.

Talc, you'll see if he has gone past, Look in tight fit warm places, same thing happened to a friend of mine, found him under the fridge! try cushions in couch, under couch. Even toaster. Good Luck!!!!

i've often heard people find them sitting on top of their cage, so make sure u check back there every so often.

as well as the flour/talc, leave a pencil or empty coke can on the edge of any furniture so u can hear it when he knocks something off, scrunch up plastic bags and put them around the place so u can hear him when he goes somewhere. He mightnt come out till its dark though, when i lost Loki (the day i got him) i kept the lights off and telly off and sat on the lounge all night only getting up to randomly turn on lights in random rooms and found him going down the back of my tallboy, thats after i'd spent the day tearing the place apart with no success. (he was only missing fro about 24 hours)

when i called the breeder he said to put the rat in a birdcage so he could get in but not back out,....

do u have a car in the garage?

maybe put the rat on a microwaved bag of rice, it might smell more if it stays warm,...

good luck,...!!
i hope u find him!!
