maybe he is just interested in her and wants to breed but the female isn't interested yet??

When did this behaviour start? If it's only recent, I'd keep an eye on them for a few more days to see how they go, though if it starts to turn ugly I'd separate immediately.

Any other recent changes/adaptations to their environment/feeding??

You posted this in the Herp Help section. I assumed you were talking about feeder rats.

That's probably what most people do, right? Do your males harass your females when you put them together? Is it all part of the courting process? Sex in many animals is quite violent.

hmmm well I'm thinking unless the fighting is serious in which one or the other is getting hurt badly, and both rats are still eating normally, I wouldn't worry too much about it as rats tend to be quite territorial and often scrap with one another, so it's actually quite normal. They should settle down after a a week or so though, just give it some time.

thnx rockchik i put the female bak wit the male n observed closer without stressin so much, n wot he does is chases her around sniffing her crutch, then tries to roll her over....so i think there may b a lil love in the air, he's jus agressive about it...
