Why don't you breed them yourself. Spilota on here does. I thought he was breeding them cos he liked birds. So I told him a friend of mine uses Slitherin racks and he said he would do that, as he had a rack already for his snakes. So now I have myself some birds and a rack, and have since found out he was breeding them to feed to his snakes and I was horrified and upset that I helped him, but I know now, thats what a lot of herpers do. I need to get with the times. Look in Aviary Life magazine they will be able to tell you or the Pet Directory is useful for that sort of thing.

Oldbeard, sorry if I offended you by breeding them for my snakes. The rack worked like a champ, or at least until they got big enough to fly. Only one quail ended up being food (only had 3), the other two have become pets (my wife would not let me feed them to the snakes). Now we have quail on our ever growing list of pets

Woohoo! Yay for your wife!
I wasnt really offended, I was just a bit shocked, as I didnt realise that is what they were for.
As I said I need to get up with the times.

Haha. Well considered breeding them myself as i used to breed my own rats n mice but now i live in a posh apartment and there is no way i could get away with breeding quails. The snakes were quite a drama so there is no way i could breed little birdies to feed to the snakes.

Maybe one day but for now i just want to know if anyone here in brissy breeds them n and for how much do they sell them?

Northside Produce at boondall/strathpine sell them, (adult size jap quails), I think they are $8 each. I breed them myself, but don't have any at the moment. I might be running my incubator again in the next 2 or three weeks, if I get to many roosters I'll send you a message. ( They'd be $2 to $3 each)

Not much beny. I have mine in all mesh cages (1/2" mesh) with solid roofs (helps to stop them bresking their necks). About 450mm wide x 600mm deep and can house 1.4 in each cage, giving 4 eggs a day - 28 a week.

I know they have giant ones at the moment out at the Brisbane Rocklea Markets on Sundays about $20 each for breeding adults I think?

Not quite what you were after, but pythoness on this site sells day old chicks at a damned good price. I'd be surprised if whatever animal you have feeding on quails wouldn't eat those.
