question on keeping carpet hatchling

Hi guys, I am looking at getting my first snake and am a beginner wiht computers too so bare with me. Am looking at getting a carpet hatchling, Firstly, is it essential to keep a hatchling in a smaller container than you would an adult? And secondly i've heard that alot of people use click clack containers for hatchlings but i'm wondering how you would rig up the heating lamps or heating system for a click clack setup? Any hints would be hugely appreciated!

Sorry I just posted this same question in the wrong section before!!

It's a good idea to set hatclings up in smaller enclosures, click clacks are perfect.

the best way to heat small enclosures such as click clacks is a heat mat under half of the enclosure, which will create a good temp gradient for your little carpet.

hey, im no expert as jessop will tell you but the best way to do it is to use a click clack and a heat mat. Only half the click clack should sit on the heat mat therefore the snake can move from a warm end to a cooler end. have a hide for the snake and a water bowl and your sweet ! P.S. i am only a newbie but please feel free to correct me if im wrong !

If you are getting a carpet hatchie you will need a click clack style container, with a heat mat to go under it, a water bowl, a hide and also a perch of some sort going length ways. I would also get a thermostat and a thermometer to control and measure temps. Hatchies feel their safest in a small area and in doing this will be the least stressful for the snake. This is also why a hide or 2 is so important.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Emz

Sorry- another question on this topic. Forgive my ignorance but do the thermostats plug into the heatmats or something? And how do you set up the thermostat inside the click clack? I'm probably looking at a coastal but I like the look of the murray's too.

The heat mat plugs into the thermostat, and I put the probe on the heatmat itself.

I used a critter cage for my girl when she was little. Same thing though, heat mat under one section.

good choice, i just got a 5 month old murray darling, shes got the best temprement! awsome beginner snakes!

as has been said before, i have a plastic tub with a heatmat, waterbowl, 3 hides and a branch for it to climb up.... she spends most of her time under the newspaper and between the edge of a slate piece i have in there and the side of the tub....

perches are a must for all morelia sp. i think
Can easily be made in a click clack by putting soldering iron through side then putting app sized dowel in holes Try to put about 3 or 4 bits of dowel in.

Can help with tricky feeders as well
