Question re: thermometer....

Hi guys and galz,

Just a quick question regarding the thermometer I purchased.......see attached pics for the type I bought. I have been concerned about the temps in my enclosure not being correct. I have a 100watt Mega Ray MVB firing straight down and a 120 watt spotty firing in on the basking spot on an angle.

My question is, regarding this temp gauge there is a function on it which lets u select in or out. I was told on another forum that u need to select out (for whatever reason). This appears to be most correct but is it. For those that have a similar gauge could you shed some light on this dilemma please. In / Out ???? The out temps are higher then the in temps but seems more likely. I may be wrong......

Thanks once again all.

** Temps are around 107F on basking spot.......(see pic) = 41 degrees celsius.....or if set on "IN" it is considerably lower.......

Thoughts?????

havent used that one, but i have the dual probe thermometer one (no humidity reading)

they have in and out for the 2 probes (i guess its inside the cage and outside)

with yours is it 1 probe for temp and 1 for humidity? if so perhaps the out temp is measured from the unit itself? maybe its supposed to be mounted outside a cage? i dont know, im just having a guess???

Do you have the probes in the exact position? If not then they will be different readings.

It's all good folks. Found out that the unit has an inbuilt gauge which is the "IN" measurement and the probe end is regarded as the "OUT" measurement. The other gauge is for the humidity. Common sense could have probably told me that but hey u buy a product and would expect at the very minimum half decent instructions. *rolls eyes*

So basically I have the unit at the cool end and the probe sitting on the rock.

Hello

Hello,

Yes, actually those are kind of confusing to get the hang of at first. Did you get your temps all set then?

Hi ya Tracie.....yeah I think it's all good. Only had beardie for not quite two weeks and hasn't complained....*winks* but appears all good now. Thanks for your concern. As long as temps are between 35 - 40 basking then I'm happy. Hopeless instructions though. Local primary school could put a better set together.
