Rat breeding question

I have been breeding rats for the last 3 or more years and recently i havnt been getting many pups at all.
The alpha male is atleast 2.5 years old, but there is also another younger male aswell.
Is it possible that the old male is losing fertility and at the same time stopping the younger bloke from having a go?
Any other ideas?
I didnt really want to kill the alpha male because he is like a pet.
Also how long do rats usually live for?

How old are the females?

Rats only live for a few years if memory serves me correctly.

The oldest would be around a year, so thats not the problem.

Try seperating the old fella & give the young bloke a go . I rotate my breeders quite a bit .

I'd say replace the older male. Have you changed anything in their diet recently?

Deffinately replace the male.
I cull the breeders at 10 months (replaced with younger breeders)
