It has been having Baytril Injections for the last 2 weeks, just incase it has to have an op to remove the impacted fecal stones. We've been treating its eyes with Trycin Eye and Ear Ointment as its eyes were a tad crook. Everyday I've been giving it a tepid bath and gentle massage to try and move the stones. Last week and today it has been tubed with more Electrolytes(for rehydration) and Paraffin Oil. Paraffin Oil might be starting to work as when Snakey was at the vet today, firmer massage was used and two more stones passed out. They are a tad softer than the ones that passed out when it was under the gas two weeks ago. They look like white chalky sort of stuff with a tad of green in it. The vet says that there only seems to be one stone left in there. Anyway, when the vet finished Snakey got quite snakey and was ready to strike. Must have really hurt to pass the stones poor thing! Vet is going to reconsult with the Adelaide Zoo vet, and see if we just continue on with the treatment we are already using. Looks like that no surgical intervention will be needed eh? Cheers Cheryl

We have a Rescue Permit in the works(hope it comes in the Post soon), and it looks like we will be looking after Snakey over the Winter period once the last stone passes, till it is eating well again, and then they will reassess whether there is any permanent damage to its fecal? tract from the stones. That's about all we can do for the poor thing. Cheers Cheryl

A lot stronger, and I have it out on the lawn in the sun everyday after it's bathe to encourage it to have a bowel movement.

Have to get Fauna Rescue lady Paula, to come and give me a hand on Tuesday, as Dave away working in Pt. Augusta. I'm actually having a Carpal tunnel op tomorrow on one of my wrists, so might make things a bit difficult for me on my own. Then Snakey is off to the vet again on Thurs for some more Electrolytes for rehydration and one last dose of Paraffin Oil(not sure whether the oil will happen) and then another massage, then probably off down to Adelaide Zoo Vet, Ian Hough for a more hands on assessment, to see what is needed re the last fecal stone(size of baby turtle shell). Fauna Rescue will see what the quote is for an op(because Hough is a Specialist), and see if they can cover it. A bit sad if they cannot cover it eh? Cheers Cheryl
