Rescued MD Update

Just a brief update. Well, our local Fauna Rescue lady, Paula, took the MD down to Adelaide Zoo Herp Vet(Ian Hough) this morning. She rang me today to let me know that the MD has now been handed over to Parks and Wildlife mob? This is due to the fact that it is going to cost between $200 to $700 for the op to remove the Fecal Stone still left in this poor snake. Fauna Rescue cannot probably meet the expenses due to them being totally Volantary and cannot afford this price. Dave and I had already decided to hand over the MD to Cleland Sanctuary for more specialised treatment if it needed an op. Also there is only a 50% chance that Snakey will survive the op. Dave and I feel that we don't have the expertise to nurse it after an op. Parks and Wildlife will decide whether it is worth operating, or whether to put the poor thing down. Hope there is a good outcome for this MD. Cheers Cheryl

Yeah, well hoppa, haven't got really attached to the poor thing. I think we really knew what the outcome might be eh? We were just trying to help it, and hoped for a good outcome . I'm sure Paula(Fauna Rescue Lady) will let us know what is decided for the MD? I'm pretty sure the local Vet who was treating it will be disappointed too if it has to be put down. She wasn't charging for her services. She is doing a Reptile Course through uni re Herps. Cheers Cheryl

Just hoping that Snakey doesn't have to be put down after all the help that has been given locally eh? Cheers Cheryl
