robust velvet gecko?

Ok, through a strange set of circumstances, I have become the owner of what I believe is a robust velvet gecko. (havent been able to take any pics of it as yet, but from looking at it and pics on the net, Im pretty sure thats what it is) Basically I dont really have an idea of what to do with it! My OH brought it home from work, apparently a lady was in his shop last week when he was on the phone discussing the beardies he is getting me for christmas. After he got off the phone she was asking him all about reptiles etc. The next day she came back in with this little click clack, put it on the desk, said to him "This used to belong to my son" burst into tears and ran out. So we have no idea where it came from, if its been in captivity all its life, if its male or female or basically anything. I didnt want to put it outside if its been fed all its life, plus I wasnt sure about climate and how they go relocating. So far I have set up my 2ft aquarium with a big rock at one end, some branches and a fake log (one that would be used in a fish tank, best I could do in a short time) On the outside of the tank at the big rock end I have a red light (80 watt) that heats up that end of the tank. I also have a heat mat, should I be turning that on as well?? Ive just been having the red lamp on of a night and off during the day. It came to us fairly skinny, had quite a thin tail, since living with us over the weekend, it has eaten every cricket we have put in front of it and seems to be putting on weight. It is about 5 inches long, is that about as big as they get? Ive tried looking on the internet, but there doesnt seem to be many care sheets.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Use the red light more than the heat mat (unless you place the heat mat against the wall, as Robusts don't like to go on the ground so much to get warmth. keep temps around 25 - 30 deg Day, and 15-20 night, offer at least four hours of 25 deg temps in winter, esp. if it is a female.
