The bigger suppliers like Picies and the universities all use co2 for culling.It has proven itself to be the most humane and safest way to cull rodents.Its really beyond me why people still feed live prey to their snakes but will keep my mouth shut as this topic I am passionate about.

I dont disagree that it is the most humane way at all, just stating that it is in fact a poison, and you are 100% correct cris, there are no negative effects on the animal that eats a CO2 euthanised rodent/animal. I drink alot of beer too, and you certainly feel like you are dying some mornings after a heavy drinking fest.
Oh and I agree with Odie, there is absolutely no reason why a captive animal should suffer if there is avoidable alternatives, nor should the risks of the prey lashing back at the predator ever be an acceptable one to take no matter how unlikely.
a rat killed by co2 will NOT have ANY negative effect on a animal that eats it.
