scared little snake

my friend has had a baby diamond python since it was born it hatched some time near the start of winter and not knowing much about hatchies let it hibernate. now it had eaten one or two pinkys soon after it hatched then stopped eating as winter rolled in and my mate turned the heat off. too add to the problem it was in a huge fish tank with a sub adult diamond. i have only found out all of this a week ago and have since put the hatchie in a click clack style container and on a heat mat and covered it with a towel and have been trying every thing (with 3 day breaks) braining, live, scented, leaving, it over night and nothing is working so far what are your opinions and suggestions on this matter is there any hope . thanks for any info cheers sean

Sounds like you have sorted most of the problems. Make sure it's hot end is warm and I would give it at least a week b/w attempting to feed it rather then 3 days.

Also when is the last time it fed and what kind of condition is it in?

im not sure really he said about a week after it hatched and it hatched a few weeks before winter so a week or two before winter i asked him if the food looked like it had digested and he said it had. its skin is a bit leathery so i have kept the humidity up a bit and rolled up its about the size of a fifty cent coin

it'll be right just give it some time for it metablosim to speed up again and it'll eat like a good little diamond again in no time.

Diamonds are very efficient at maintaining energy - I wouldn't stress too much...

...give it a break, roughly a week at a time between feeds, and I am sure it will begin feeding again. Has it had ANY heating at all over Winter? If not I would suggest keeping an eye on it to make sure it is in good health, not wheezing etc as an RI may develop under those conditions...
