selling a snake before owning it for 6 months

hey guys,

one of my friends recently bought her first snake, an 18-month-old carpet. She's had him for about two months and he has stayed extremely aggressive, she can't even put her hand in his enclosure let alone handle him without getting bitten repeatedly. I've attempted to handle him too, and she's not exaggerating, he is a fairly bitey snake.

She wants to sell him and try to find an older, more placid snake but at the moment has no internet access so asked me to post this on here.

Is there any way she can sell the snake, seeing as in Queensland we're supposed to own them for 6 months before being able to sell them?

Your best bet would be to give the EPA a call. I don't know what criteria they have for permitting the early exchange of animals, but I believe it's possible with their approval. If they're reasonable, they'd let her do it.....

I had a bearded dragon I had to sell before the 6 month period and all I did was contact them and told them why I needed the bearded dragon to be sold and they arranged to have a letter done for me that I had to keep with the movement advice, so if you contact them and explain the situation to them, they are more than happy to help (my experience anyway)

usually contact the permit issuer.. tell them the details and see what they can do.. had a friend who wasa little whoosy her snake was calming down after i looked after it for a couple of weeks and got bitten but then i wasnt getting bitten.. but by then she had a fear of it.. she managed to get a waiver to sell prior to the 6 months...

People up here seem to do it all the time, and get away with it. Makes a mockery of the commercial licencing system. But you can contact the EPA and they may waive the 6 month rule for you.
