Setting thermometer...

Hi there all. As I am getting my beardie tomorrow I have been spending the last day burning in my MVB and had spotty on trying to get enclosure temps right.

Today I picked up a thermometer / hygrometer from the herp shop. This particular one has a single probe and obviously a bit that measures humidity.

My question is, when measuring basking spot temps do I actually sit the probe on the surface of where the beardie will bask OR let it sit up a bit in the air??? Like, does the probe need to be actually touching the surface???


Secondly, what do u all use to keep the probe on the surface if this is the case.

No, it does not have to be touching the basking surface, just close to where the beardie will be basking and obviously not right on the lamp either.

I'd have it in the basking area, but not sure how you'd go about attaching it in there. Ask Darren tomorrow, he'll proberly know.
