ok i have searched posts and although i have found heaps of information none made me feel better maybe its a first shed ior new owner thing.
Anyway i have a hatchling stimson who i have had for 5 weeks. i'm sure he is shedding but i want someone to say yeah he is, so i feel better. His eyes don't seem to be cloudy but his skin is extremely dull and it seems loose on him. he is staying under his hide and i haven't seen him leave his hide for a few days. his skin has been dull for about a week but just yesterday and today it is really dull like 10 years worth of dust has settled on him. and the loose skin isn't very appealing.
does this sound like a shedding snake?

Most likley, have you been misting his enclosure to keep the humidity up, try doing that a few times when you can and just let him be. He should shed in a few days.

yeah that is exactly what he looks like the first pic. when he moves his skin wrinkles up and looks all loose as well. how long between the first picture was taken and the second method??

i think he has been cloudy about a week i have just started a new job so i haven't spent as much time with him as usual. i spray water in the enclosure evry time i chage the water every second day but because its warm in perth now the enclosure light doesn't really come on any more will that affect the humidity?

it probably would, but if the enclosures staying at the right temps you shouldn't have a problem. Just keep up the misting, try giving him a spray every couple of hours or so. shoulds help the lil guy out

yeah sounds like shedding.
my little guy goes VERY wrinkly the days before a shed. it looks like the skin is so loose itll fall off him.
im guessing you will see your first shed in the next coulple of days if he's at the wrinkly stage.

Has he got enough reasonably rough areas in the enclosure to help him get started? You'll find some snakes will eat during a shed and some won't want to know you. Usually a day after a shed they have a pretty good appetite too.

substrate is like a gravel smaller than fish gravel. i also have two branches and a rock in the enclosure. a large water bowl but it is not directly under the heat light. i have been misting enclosure and snake. i am also worried about respiratory infection because of the sparying. i am so worried about him because i have never seen a shed before i have no idea if he is ok or not. i know about a week ago one scale on the top of his head looked dry like it was going to fall off and one on his spine but that was it. when do you decided he needs help when you have never experienced this before.
he actually doesn't look as dull as he did a couple of days ago but the substrate is dusty possible he looked a lot more dull due to him burying himself undr substrate.

just to throw a spanner into the works. Last sunday my hopefuly shedding stimson swallowed what i think is calle river sand which is just a smaller version of fish tank gravel. would this cause any problems which would seem to be shedding??? he swalled substrate while eating he finished his feed no worried but i have been stressed since. obviously!
