| | | Shedding during hibernation?
I have started to cool my DP(over the last 3 weeks), and the temps are quite low now... Daytime max being 23 and all heat off during night. (can drop to 12-15 celcius).
Today i noticed his eyes are milky as if he is coming up for a 'slough', and despite the cooler temps he is still quite active.
Is this normal for pythons to shed skin during the cooling period?
Is it a possible sign of sickness?
Should i stop cooling and raise the temps and humidity to assist a possible shedding?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Jess

It’s quite normal for a DP to shed in the cooler months, that’s why people that are lucky enough to have Diamonds in the roof of their houses over winter find skins left in spring.
As far as your heating goes, nighttimes are supposed to be off at all times throughout the year.
Also Diamonds come out sunbaking in winter, whenever there is a warm sunny day, so put your heat up to about 28-29 at the basking spot for about 5 or so hours, down to 4 for a month in the middle of
Winter and then gradually up again.
That’s what I have been doing for some years now.
Cheers Artie

Bring day temps up to 24-26'c.
Shedding in winter is normal.
