Sheding Problem

Hi I have a mac about 6 years old about 1.5 meters long that shed early today and still has patchs of old skin . this is the first time this has happen in the 6 years I have had him. should I give him a bath tonight and is it better to wait a couple of days. any help will be greatfull.

id give him warm bath don't know much about maccies but is 1.5 meters big
