Snake catching first aid kit.

hey guys, I'm hoping to begin snake catching in my local area for a few extra bucks, start next year.

Apart from pressure bandages, what else should my first aid kit contain?

Duct tape, to deal with the "Back in my day, we used to kill them with a shovel, but the daughter won't have that, oh no, she's too............" factor that seems to occur once a month. Like clockwork.

Damage mitigation Permit to start with, I don't no about getting them in other states but not so easy to get in QLD. To get one you usually need to have done some courses to qualify, or have gotten a number of signatures with a written note saying that you are experianced enough to have one. Better to start working with others first. To add to that if your doing it to gain a few extra bucks you might want to check around because in my area, myself and a few others do it here, for free.

Two most important items are bandages and your phone. Dont rely on the public to call an ambulance if you get bitten, they will be to busy with there camcorder. If you suffer from certain protien allergies like bee stings you might want to have a few tests and carry an EpiPen in case of an anaphyactic reaction if you are bitten by some of the less venomous species.

If you have to ask what you need to pack in a snake bite kit, than you have a long long way to go before you become a snake catcher. Also, the money from snake relocations is not that good.

Sounds like an episode of Macgyver!

But seriously, Brock Lobster, snake catching will barely turn you a profit, when you factor in all your expenses. Unfortunately people are under the impression that snake catchers should do it for free, and will almost blackmail you into not charging by saying "You can either come and get it for free, or I'll shoot/shovel/whack it!". This attitude is just reinforced by the misguided snake catchers who continue to do it for nothing. They wreck any chance of somebody making a real go of things as a way of making a living.
