Snake Stressing

Hey there.

I just wanted to know how to tell if a snake is stressing. What are some signs they will give to indicate something is wrong and how do you go about finding and fixing the problem?

alot depends on the actual snake..... some will strike others will become 'flighty' meaning they'll jerk away from u or anything they touch.....some will literally run away from u..... u'll get to know ur snake and thier different behaviours.... hope that helps a bit

Geeez Stary, either that or you have mites!

Best remedy I've found for snakes that appear stressed (eg: off their food, erratic startled behavior etc) is covering up the majority of their tank glass with newspaper. Another thing to look for is if you are using the correct temps for the species kept (very important that this is correct!). Snakes should also be kept in locations that are free of excessive noise, vibration and general traffic (as in, you're not walking in front of them every 10 seconds- they don't really appreciate that sort of attention )

Cheers.

I have heard a stressed snake will spend long periods of time in their hides and that they will go off their food. Hope this helps!

What type of stress do you mean? I found that when I first starting handling my snake or even approaching the enclosure his breathing rate would increase.
