Hi, I'm going to pick up my coastal today and was just checking through the species codes and i can't find coastal carpet python. I rang DSE and they can't find it either and told me NOT to put it under carpet python (2969), because the scientific name is different. Just wondering what those with coastals' have put them under and what is the code?
Thanks

Hi koubee,
Thats what I got, and the name I found that says "Coastal Carpet Python" is Morelia Spilota Mcdowelli. Hope that's of some help. So named in a book called "Keeping Carpet Pythons" by Simon Kortlang & Darren Green.
Mine is now two yrs old and a great snake, very good temperment and a good feeder. Hope you have the same.

Thanks guys, I'm in melbourne, when i went to get him the guy told me to put it under a carpet python but i'm not 100%
sure. So i'm waiting for the DSE to call me back with their findings.
He's a bit nippy but then so would i if i was so small. Either way i love him, teeth and all.
Will attempt to post a picture, sorry but my pics are not good quality as i took them with my phone.

if you are in NSW go by above post but if you are in vic i would not put it down as anything until you get the phone call as they know that you have called them to find out what it goes under. just put the date and person you received it off in your book until they call

Finally heard back from DSE snd they told me to put it down as a carpet python.
I should've realised that it should go under that. The Coastal part just refers to where it came from, at least that's what they told me.
Still not 100% sure as to weather i put it down as a Moreila s. mcdowelli or moreila s. variegata.
Might ring them back
